Therapeutic songwriting is back for it’s third series from June to October 2025.
We have partnered with the Pensacola Beach Songwriters Festival again to offer a monthly Community Therapeutic Songwriting Workshop in downtown Pensacola. The workshop will be offered to the public at no cost and will take place in the J. Earl Bowden Building and Voices of Pensacola (right next to each other on Church & Government St.)
The focus of the workshop is to provide people with tools for accessible, frustration-free therapeutic songwriting and to provide participants with a safe medium for processing emotions or events within the framework of an original song. This third series will specifically feature the process and tools for all participants to write at least one original song over the course of 4 workshops with an opportunity to share in a showcase at the festival on October 11th.
1st workshop & 2nd workshop - Saturdays June 28 & July 26 @ the Earl Bowden Bldg, Classroom 1
3rd & 4th workshops - Saturdays August 30 & September 27 @ the Voices of Pensacola 117 E. Government St.
Showcase - October 11 @ 6pm during the Pensacola Beach Songwriters Festival in the Voices of Pensacola building
As a music therapist, Kayla hopes to meet needs in the community for healing, bringing people together and honing the art of songwriting. Kayla is a passionate advocate for mental health awareness and accessibility to therapy services. She is a singer/songwriter and multi instrumentalist and can personally and professionally speak to the powerful therapeutic effect of music and writing songs for the self.
The workshop begins June 28th and will continue on the last Saturday of each month until September. No music or songwriting experience necessary. Bring yourself, friends, and any instruments!
